2017 French Film Festival Lineup at Salve Regina University

Fun fact: the Salve Regina’s French Film Festival was one of the things that helped me rekindle my passion for French culture.

I started taking French classes in elementary school. I stayed with it through high school, even took AP level classes as an upperclassman. Learning vocabulary and pronunciation were not difficult for me at all—keeping the verb tenses and sentence structure correct was a very difficult process.

By the time I graduated from high school, I became discouraged with the language and walked away from it.

Fast forward to my sophomore year at Salve Regina. I still needed to take two semesters of a foreign language before graduation. I considered taking Italian. Maybe even Spanish.

… Then I realized that I wasn’t ready to give up French forever and it was time to start again during my junior year.

In addition to French class, I signed up for the French Film Festival workshop in the spring semester. The syllabus was straightforward—attend all of the film screenings, then write a conclusive summary of the experience.

I wish I could see all of the films this year, but I want to check out the Focus on French Cinema festival in Connecticut and New York City, too.

Here’s the lineup for the 2017 French Film Festival at Salve Regina University. All of the film screenings will be held at Bazarsky Lecture Hall in O’Hare Academic Center. Tickets and festival passes are available online or at the door.

Note: If you have trouble finding the O’Hare building, it’s the modern looking building next to the red looking mansion (McAuley Hall), overlooking the Cliff Walk. Last time I checked, it should still somewhat resemble a construction site after its recent renovation…
