I Tried to Crash a Show at Paris Fashion Week

A short story of a girl who decided to try to crash a Paris Fashion Week show

After sharing Instagram updates from my first Paris Fashion Week show, I noticed that I had a few new followers—it was a French fashion house and its the chief creative officer.

I looked up the brand and saw that they were having a show during Paris Fashion Week.

Even though the Instagram follows were probably definitely automated to follow any user who used the hashtag #PFW and had their location in Paris, I figured I would try something…

If a smaller, niche brand is going through the pains of doing an Instagram campaign, it means that they want people to engage with them, right?

I wanted to crash the show but in the most responsible way possible.

First, I did a bit of research about crashing fashion shows. Then I sent an email the night before (not the best idea, I know).

On the day of the show, I tried to plan a decent outfit and makeup.

I got to the venue. I waited for everyone who did receive invitations to enter, then awaited the final decision with the other people who had the same idea that I did.

They let in 10 people from the remaining crowd, then they closed the gates.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of the people selected, but despite the fact that I didn’t get to see the show, I’m happy that I took the chance.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably definitely thinking that I couldn’t have been more naive to believe that I could successfully crash a Paris Fashion Week show.

Well. You know what they say—you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
