There were advertisements for the Cartier exhibit at the Grand Palais everywhere on the métro…
When it comes down to it, what girl doesn’t want to see diamonds in Paris?
It was worth waiting in line for an hour to see jewels worn by Princess Grace of Monaco, Elizabeth Taylor and the Duchess of Windsor alone. I have a basic foundation of fashion history, but not so much jewelry. The exhibit fully illustrated Cartier’s history from the time of the mid-19th century until the present, which brought me up to speed. It was great to see a few dresses on display alongside the tiaras, the necklaces, and the other bright, shiny, beautiful pieces of wearable art.
