Paris, Day 8: Musée de Cluny

For class today, we went inside the Musée de Cluny. Our professor assigned each one of us to find a certain artifact in the museum, take a picture of it, and write a brief summary of the artifact’s history. I got the Pilier des Nautes, a pillar from the 1st century dedicated to Jupiter during the reign of Tiberius.

One of the main exhibitions at the Musée de Cluny is the La Dame de Licorne tapestry—it’s fairly large and wraps around an entire room. I saw one gentleman take a few panoramic shots, so I took the liberty of copying him…

We spent most of the day relaxing after class. I took a much-needed nap, then ran some errands before attending a dinner held by the FIAP for three different groups of American students to meet each other—I sent some postcards, went to the ATM, bought souvenirs at Petit Bateau, and bought a magazine to read.

I forgot where I read it, but I remember hearing that Le Petit Bateau is a great place to buy basics. They sell mostly children’s clothing—I was buying for five-year-old girls—and they also carry some women’s. The sales make buying clothes that much easier.
