50+ French-inspired Female Fashion Editors, Models, and Influencers to Follow on Instagram

French, fashion, and female—that’s an empowering combination.

I’ve tried my best to organize my hitlist of influential French, French-based, and/or French-inspired women who are welcome additions to your social media feeds for daily inspiration. If you’re looking for a crash course in today’s influential French women, this isn’t a bad place to start.

I will be the first to admit that making a list like this is dangerous because everyone has their own Instagram roster of inspiration and I know that I’m missing some incredible women here.

Some of these names will be predictable—for the obvious reason that they have been influential in their respective domains—while other names are more personal recommendations of professionals and creators whose content made a lasting impact on me beyond my former life when I was in France.

Also, despite the categories, you can imagine that many of these women are influential across industries.

I will update this list over time and expect it to grow as new professionals and influencers emerge:

  1. Les Auteurs, Éditeurs, et Journalistes (The Authors, Editors, and Journalists)
  2. Les Photographes (The Photographers)
  3. Les Icons (The Icons)
  4. Les Acteurs et Mannequins (The Actors and Models)
  5. Les Influenceurs (The Influencers)
  6. Les Fondatrices (The Founders)

Les Auteurs, Éditeurs, et Journalistes (The Authors, Editors, and Journalists)

Emmanuelle Alt, Instagram

Emanuelle Alt (@emmanuellealt)

Emanuelle Alt is the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris. A mainstay in Paris fashion, Alt’s editorial style continues to define the pages of one of the world’s leading fashion publications and influence the next generation of designers and creatives.

Kate Betts is a well-established American fashion journalist and author who is a contributing editor at Time and The Daily Beast. In her book My Paris Dream, Betts recounts her time as a young journalist living in Paris, France after graduating from Princeton.

Carine Roitfeld (@carineroitfeld)

If you’ve seen Emily in Paris, they based Sylvie Grateau’s character on Carine Roitfeld—alluring, intelligent, sensual, and nothing else but chic. A former Vogue Paris editor—Emmanuelle Alt’s predecessor—Roitfeld is the Editor-in-Chief of CR Fashion Book and has her own eponymous fragrance line.

Amy Thomas (@godiloveparis)

A creative director in the ad world and an editorial writer, Amy Thomas may be known to the general public for her two books, My Sweet Life in Paris, which recounts her time in Paris working on Louis Vuitton’s digital advertising, and Brooklyn in Love, which covers her life post-Paris and finding her roots back in the United States.

Dana Thomas (@danathomasparis)

Based in Paris, Dana Thomas is an author and accomplished fashion journalist who has earned the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters honor from the French Minister of Culture. Half-Chinese and half-French, Mimi Thorisson has shared her culinary and cultural journey in Médoc, France, and beyond on her blog. Mimi, her husband, and their children currently live in Italy.

Lindsey Tramuta (@lindseytramuta)

If you’ve read an article about Paris in The New York Times or Condé Nast Traveler, chances are you’ve read a piece written by Lindsey Tramuta. Her articles and books, such as The New Parisienne: The Women & Ideas Shaping Paris, give honest and illuminating insights into what it’s like to understand French culture.

Eugénie Trochu (@eugenietrochu)

Originally from Normandy, France, Eugénie Trochu is the editor-in-chief of editorial content at Vogue France. If she continues to follow suit with her Vogue colleagues, she will continue to contribute to the Parisian fashion landscape.
