Discover Newport‘s monthly marketing meeting for local businesses was held in the Newport Marriott, which is wrapping up its $35 million renovation:
The resort’s 312 guestrooms and eight suites have been designed with serenity in mind, with each bed designed with backlit sails that extend the length of headboards.
The renovation also included a modernization of the property’s mid-sized meeting rooms on the second floor. In all, the property features 24,800 feet of flexible meeting space in total, including 16 meeting rooms and a 7,600-foot grand ballroom.
The resort also houses a spa, which, at 4,500 feet, is the largest in Newport; and a 10,000-foot health club with indoor pool, sauna, whirlpool, racquetball courts, fitness room and roof deck that is open seasonally.

Attendees were offered tours of the space to see all of the amazing work:
The Newport Marriott also hosted local reporters and bloggers at The Skiff Bar to enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and the waterfront. Visitors can enjoy a gorgeous view overlooking Newport Harbor at the hotel without having to book a room, so it’s a great spot for locals and tourists alike.
Since I went to the party immediately after work, I sampled nearly all of the hors d’oeuvres—I would have to say that the lobster pappardelle was my favorite. Upon leaving the event, attendees received a goodie bag with a few things from the Newport Marriott as well as a bracelet from Lemon & Line, the evening’s sponsor.
The aesthetic of the Newport Marriott is nautical, but it translated tastefully and creatively. The design elements and material choices–the use of colors and textures, as well as natural light and space–create a beautiful nautical concept without being so literal. You feel like you’re on a boat walking down the halls…
The pictures of this suite don’t do it justice, it’s a great space.
Note: The filter on some of the photos is misleading—it’s brighter and whiter in person than the yellowish-beige tone.
The view from the sixth floor offers the best view of the atrium and the interior balconies.
I’m looking forward to grabbing a few drinks at the Newport Marriott soon!
